The Tourmalet owes its fame to the Tour de France because it is the pass that was most often crossed by the runners of “La Boucle”, 79 times at all. Accessible by two slopes, this pass is on the to do list of most cyclists coming to pedal in the Pyrenees. Everyone dreams of reaching the summit to admire the statue of the Giant, Octave Lapiz, the first runner to cross the pass on the Tour in 1910, represented by Jean-Bernard Métais as a dancer.
